Time to Garden
It's that time of the year again to break out my Garden Hound mulcher, gloves, and spade! I love to garden. I would not call myself an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I enjoy being outside and doing some good old manual labor. It clears the mind and allows me to work out any pent up energy.
Today, I had two little helpers (Lizzy and Martin). We completed our meager vegetable garden by adding some pepper plants and watermelon (not sure about how they will turn out). Then worked on our flower beds. I don't have it all done. I'm hopeful that the rain will wait until I can finish it up tomorrow morning during Theodore's nap.
I also have a small flower bed in the downtown area that I adopted and need to fix up and put more flowers in. Last year I won the contest for the best flower bed! I laughed so hard when I found out about that. The tree that occupied my little flower bed was dead and had blown over during a strong storm last August. Now I have no shade and need plants that can handle the full sun. This year I will have some marigolds, shasta daisies, fountain grass, beachwood something....(a ground covering), petunias, and sweet caroline. It should survive the summer with a little TLC.
We said good-bye to my mother this morning as she travels back down to Texas. She has vacationed for over a month between my brother's and my place--I believe she is looking forward to being back home and anxious to see my dad.
