Illegal Immigration and the Economy

Illegal Immigration.  This is a phrase, that if you have been following the presidential campaign closely, has been absent from the current candidate's platform.  Why is that?  Could it be that Clinton, Obama, and McCain don't want it to be an issue?  That is what I think.

When there were 15 million Republican candidates still running 15 months ago, illegal immigration was a big discussion.  The media was in a constant feeding frenzy about the subject.  This topic is now almost virtually extinct in the media, even on the conservative front.  If I had a talk show, I'd make sure I wouldn't let this topic die out.  I think that by allowing people who are here illegally access to our government aid services it hurts, yep, you guessed it, our economy.

Economy, is by the way, the main talking craze these days.  Even though unemployment is at a perfect number, 5% (I actually did retain something from my Socialist Loving-Canada-is better-than-the-US high school economics teacher, Mrs. Mulligan), we are told daily how horrible the economy is.  Granted, our family budget has felt a squeeze. We have made the necessary adjustments.  But, if the economy is sooooo bad, then why were 714,000 Wii's sold last month nationwide?  How many illegal immigrants bought a Wii, a cell phone program, or any other "luxury" item instead of paying for the ER visit they expect the government, and ultimately you, to pay?

I think that our country's illegal immigration problem and the economy are interlinked.  It should be discussed by the presidential candidates, but it is not.  Unfortunately we have 3, not 2, Democratic candidates running for president.  There is not a single conservative one.  That is why they don't talk about illegal immigration--not even a peep!  Liberal politicians need those illegals to continue to fuel the government's programs, namely Medicaid.  They need someone to be dependent on the government's services in order to keep taxing at an increasing rate.

Maybe Mrs. Mulligan's wish will come true about universal health care in the US.  I wish I could be independently wealthy by the time this happens so that I don't have to wait 6 months to get CT Scan or other medical procedure done.  I think her wish will come true before mine!

This is a great post. You've hit the nail right on the head. I love the "3 democratic candidates." So true, so true. You're the bomb.
