Mommy's little helper

I was talking to a friend this morning about the state of my home.  Having 4 children ranging from 13 years to 7 months makes housekeeping very interesting.  She also has 4 children and we both commented about the clutter build-up around the home.  She is using FlyLady.  I find it a bit overwhelming.

Anyway, I decided today to open up them windows (spring is FINALLY here), turn on the soothing sounds of talk radio (ha), and get to work.

Martin, my 3 year old, has been a big helper.  He is currently mopping the floor for me.  I have learned to shed my Type A Personality when it comes to the assistance of children in chores....anything is better than nothing!

So, here I go again.  My back is hurting (see post:  So much for cleaning up) so I decided to take a break, drink my water, and type a few lines.

I love getting to be a homemaker!

Question for you: How do you get your three year old to mop without making a huge mess. My three year old, and my fife year old, would love to mop but everything ends up in a mess...water everywhere and they end up wet too. I spending more time cleaning up after them, then it would have taken me to do it in the first place. I definitely do NOT have a Type A personality. Or am I and just don't know it (is that possible?)

Anyways, just wondering if you have any clever ways or tricks to letting a three year old mop and not end up with a huge mess.

Buy the Clorox Ready Mop system. It is great because it cleans fairly well (for the really good clean I still prefer hands and knees cleaning, but I don't often have time for that).

Don't get the Swiffer one because the refills are more expensive. Also, the designers of the Swiffer mop have made it necessary to buy the liquid refills.

With the Clorox Ready Mop you can pour in your own cleaning solution mixture, turn it upside down into the holder, and you're ready to go! I don't mind buying the refills because they are pretty cheap.
